POSITION: Research Assistant, Clinical Research Program
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
FUNCTION: To facilitate all Phlebotomy operations and aid the Clinical Research Center in the performance of their duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Phlebotomist
Certified IV Tech
Current CPR Certification
Familiarity with medical terminology
Ability to work well independently and work flexible hours
REPORTS TO: Research Manager
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Read and understand the protocol requirements regarding:
- Shipment of specimens
- Assures laboratories receive specimens
- Completes all paperwork associated with specimen processing
- Communicating to the subject any protocol instructions regarding specimen requirements for fasting or non-fasting
- Maintain adequate supplies and a contact to resupply stock when necessary
- Maintain updated central and local laboratory certifications, normal ranges
Maintain equipment calibration
Maintain OSHA and CLIA standards on a daily basis for all exam rooms and laboratory
Works together with Clinical Research Coordinator’s to provide optimal patient care and safeguard patient confidentiality
Takes vital signs, ECG’s, as requested by Clinical Research Coordinator’s
Maintain temperature logs for drug room and freezers on a daily basis
Calls and reminds subjects of their appointments
Prepares screening packets for Clinical Research Coordinator’s
Xeroxing / filing of documents on an as needed basis for Clinical Research Coordinator’s and Research Manager
Assisting Clinical Research Coordinator’s with boxing and storing essential documents for closed studies

The occupant of this position is required to follow any other job-related instructions and perform any other duties as requested by Physician Director(s), Clinical Research Manager, and/or Practice Manager. It is the responsibility of each employee to assist other office staff when and where necessary. All employees have the responsibility of answering phones, maintaining files, filing, updating data, and receiving prescription refill orders, etc. Most importantly, it is each staff member’s responsibility to project and maintain a positive attitude toward all patients and fellow co-workers. The duties listed may be changed or modified at any time.
